Overview
About flanges
Flanges make a bolted, gasketed joint that can be opened again, at equipment nozzles and valves, at spool breaks, and anywhere a line has to be isolated, inspected or replaced. The choice of flange type, facing and pressure class follows the service and the mating flange.
The range covers weld neck, slip-on, socket weld, threaded, lap joint and blind flanges, plate and backing-ring flanges, orifice flanges to ASME B16.36, spectacle blinds, paddle blinds and ring spacers to ASME B16.48, and nipoflanges for flanged branch connections.
Flanges up to 24″ are made to ASME B16.5 and larger sizes to ASME B16.47 Series A and B, from 1/2″ to 48″ in Classes 150 to 2500, with flat face, raised face or ring type joint facings. Mild steel flanges are made to BS 10 tables.
Materials include mild steel IS 2062, carbon steel ASTM A105N, stainless steel A182 F304 and F316 and alloy steel A182 F11, F22 and F91. Dimensions, bolt circles and bolting for each class are in the tables below.
