Piping components for power plants
Steam service is unforgiving of the wrong material. Main steam, reheat and feedwater lines need creep-resistant alloys and documentation to match.

The requirement
What power plants demand of a fitting
Thermal power plants operate main steam and reheat circuits at temperatures where carbon steel loses strength. Chrome-moly alloy grades carry the creep resistance those lines require, and the material certificate is as much a part of the delivery as the fitting.
Feedwater, condensate and cooling circuits run cooler and are generally carbon steel, but they are large-bore and cycle constantly. Long-radius elbows and weld neck flanges are specified through most of that scope for fatigue and pressure-drop reasons.
Boiler-connected piping in India commonly falls under IBR, which brings its own inspection and certification requirements. Confirm the boundary of IBR scope for your plant before enquiring; it changes what has to be supplied with the goods.
IllustrationWhere these components sit
- Main steam and hot reheat lines in chrome-moly alloy
- Boiler feedwater and economiser circuits
- Condensate extraction and heater drain lines
- Cooling water headers and pump connections
- Instrument and drain connections in forged Class 3000 / 6000
Specification points that matter here
- Confirm whether the line falls inside IBR scope; it changes the certification required
- Alloy grade selection driven by design temperature, not pressure alone
- Long-radius elbows throughout large-bore steam and feedwater
- Weld neck flanges on thermally cycling lines; avoid slip-on
- Hydrostatic test certificates required before supply
Ranges for this sector
What we supply into it
The categories most often specified for this service. Every one carries the full range behind it.
- Buttweld FittingsButtweld elbows, bends, tees, reducers and caps welded end to end with the pipe, for a joint as strong as the pipe itself and a smooth, leak-free bore.View 14 products
- Forged FittingsSocket weld and threaded fittings machined from solid forgings, for strong, compact joints on small-bore, high-pressure lines such as drains, vents and gauge points.View 15 products
- FlangesFlanges that make a bolted, gasketed joint at equipment, valves and spool breaks, so a line can be opened again for isolation, inspection or replacement.View 22 products
