Overview
About buttweld fittings
Buttweld fittings are welded end to end with the pipe, so the joint is as strong as the pipe itself and the bore stays smooth and continuous; no threads, sockets or gaskets to leak or trap deposits. That makes them the standard choice for process, utility and steam piping from 1/2″ upwards.
The range covers long- and short-radius 90° and 45° elbows, 180° return bends, pipe bends, equal and reducing tees and crosses, concentric and eccentric reducers, caps, stub ends and collars. Ends are machined with a weld bevel so a fitting can be fitted up and welded without further preparation.
Every fitting follows ASME B16.9. Mild steel is supplied in IS 1239 Part 2 / IS 2062 Gr. A for water, air and general service; carbon, stainless and alloy steel in ASTM A234 WPB and A420 WPL6 for general and low-temperature duty, A403 WP304/304L/316/316L for corrosive service, and A234 WP11, WP22 and WP91 for high-temperature lines.
A buttweld fitting takes its wall thickness from the pipe schedule, so it is specified by size, schedule and grade together. Dimensions, wall thicknesses and weights for every material and class are in the dimension tables below, each with an Excel download.
