Overview
Product overview
Our Buttweld 90 Degree Elbows fittings boast robust construction, precise dimensions, and dependable performance, making them ideal for various industrial applications.
Crafted to meet industry standards, our fittings ensure durability, reliability, and optimal performance, meeting the diverse needs of industries worldwide. The 90 Degree Elbow facilitates a seamless connection between pipes or tubes at a 90-degree angle, essential for changing flow direction or connecting pipes of different sizes.
Our Long Radius variant offers a larger bending radius, ensuring smoother fluid flow and minimal pressure drop compared to the Short Radius 90 Degree Elbow. Fortune Fittings Private Limited offers Buttweld 90 Degree Elbow fittings in a comprehensive range of dimensions, tailored to meet your specific requirements, including pipe size, wall thickness, and radius of curvature.
Using top-grade raw materials such as stainless steel, carbon steel, and alloy steel, we guarantee the durability and corrosion resistance of our fittings. Compliant with ANSI, ASME, and ASTM standards, our fittings find extensive applications in industries like oil and gas, petrochemicals, and power generation.
What is a Buttweld 90 Degree Elbow?
A Buttweld 90 Degree Elbow is a precision component in piping systems, allowing smooth directional changes with minimal turbulence. Crafted from durable materials like stainless steel, it ensures leak-free connections and optimal flow.

Applications and service
Typical duty across the process industries we supply.
- Piping SystemsUsed to change the direction of flow in pipelines, connecting pipes at a 90-degree angle in plumbing, HVAC, and industrial piping systems.
- Chemical ProcessingEssential for directing fluid flow in chemical plants, refineries, and petrochemical facilities, where corrosive substances are handled.
- Oil and GasIntegral in oil and gas pipelines for routing fluids around obstacles, connecting different pipeline sections, and facilitating efficient flow.
- Power GenerationUtilized in power plants for steam, water, and gas piping systems to ensure proper fluid circulation and direction.
- Shipbuilding and MarineEmployed in shipbuilding for piping systems aboard vessels, providing reliable connections for water, fuel, and hydraulic systems.
- Pharmaceutical and Food ProcessingUsed in sanitary piping systems to maintain hygienic conditions and prevent contamination in pharmaceutical and food processing facilities.

Technical notes
How the component behaves in the line, and the details to settle before an order is placed.
How it behaves in the line
- 1.25D radius (mild steel): Centre-to-end dimension A ≈ 1.25 × nominal bore
- 1.5D LR (ASME B16.9): Standard for oil & gas and process plant
- 1.0D SR (ASME B16.9): Space-constrained installations only; higher turbulence
- Wall thinning at intrados is a known fabrication effect: check per B16.9
- Minimum inlet/outlet straight length of 5× bore recommended before another fitting
Confirm when ordering
- Specify radius type: 1.25D (mild steel) vs 1.5D LR
- Confirm end preparation: plain end vs bevel (BW) vs square cut
- Ask for dimensional inspection report and hydrostatic test certificate
- Coating options: black painted, GI, epoxy; specify per service
Dimensions, wall thicknesses and pressure classes are in the dimension tables; the governing standards are summarised on the standards reference.
