About the elbow

A 90° butt weld elbow changes the direction of pipe flow. Available in Long Radius (LR, 1.5D to ASME B16.9) and Short Radius (SR, 1.0D) per ASME, and a 1.25D radius in the domestic mild steel range. Long radius elbows produce lower pressure drop and are preferred wherever space allows.

  • Available in 1.25D (IS), 1.5D LR, and 1.0D SR radius configurations
  • Full-penetration butt weld end connection for seamless, flush joint
  • No internal projection: unobstructed bore for full flow capacity
  • Available in sizes from ½" NB to 48" NB

Factory-Made Wrought Buttwelding Fittings

Covers the full range of industrial butt weld fittings (elbows, tees, reducers, caps, returns) in carbon steel, alloy steel, and stainless steel from ½" to 48" NB.

  • Applies to NPS ½" through 48" (DN 15 through DN 1200)
  • Schedule wall: STD / XS / XXS plus full SCH range
  • Radius: Long Radius (LR) 1.5D and Short Radius (SR) 1.0D elbows
  • Dimensional tables are the only source of 'legal' wall thickness
  • No pressure-temperature rating: use ASME B31.3 / B31.1 with pipe schedule
  • End prep: per ASME B16.25 bevel
